Heather or Calluna Vulgaris is the sole species in the genus Calluna in the flowering plant family Ericaceae. It is found widely in Europe and Asia on acidic soils in open sunny situations and in moderate shade. Heather’s growth in popularity may be due to its many uses as alpine plants from important food source for grazing animals to honey production and decorative and medicinal uses.
