Heather or Calluna Vulgaris is the sole species in the genus Calluna in the flowering plant family Ericaceae. It is found widely in Europe and Asia on acidic soils in open sunny situations and in moderate shade. Heather’s growth in popularity may be due to its many uses as alpine plants from important food source for grazing animals to honey production and decorative and medicinal uses. Heather blossoms impress with gentle floral fragrance and heather twigs bring memories of pine needle freshness. Similarly, the tea made from heather blossoms and twigs offers pleasant floral bouquet of dry flowers and distant reminiscences of pine forests. Heather tea is naturally caffeine free.
