White Monkey Paw or Baimao Hou in Chinese is a delicate green tea made from the leaves and bud of the green tea leaf when harvested during the first two weeks of the season. It originates from the Taimu Mountains in Fujian Province, China. The delicate leaves are carefully steamed and dried. The name originates from the appearance of the dried leaves resembling the paw of a white-haired monkey. Whilst it is a green tea, the infused liquor and visual appearance is so delicate it could almost be thought of as a white tea. This is one of the most exquisite green teas on the market. This tea offers low caffeine content of approximately 20 mg per cup.
