Golden Monkey Black Tea is hand-processed each spring by carefully plucking its leaves and buds. Only the bud and first leaf are picked, and the tea leaves are characterised by the pale gold threading. The flavour profile of golden monkey tea offers light, honeyed peach notes, and its unique lack of astringency. This tea is considered one of the finest black teas available. The name of the tea comes from the leaves that resemble monkey claws. Very small quantities are harvested each year making availability of this unique tea unpredictable. Due to the rarity of this tea, local populations of Taipans believed it had special powers of agility, longevity, and stamina. This tea contains approximately 27-35 mg of caffeine per cup. A truly remarkable experience of silky smooth black tea flavour without the bitter astringent undertone often characterising other black tea varieties.
