Butterfly Blue Pea Blue Tea is one of the most celebrated herbal drinks of South East Asia including Bali, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand where it is often served cold in the form of ice tea. What sets this deep blue sky coloured drink apart is its striking colour and ability to transform this colour into various hues of deep blue, purple and even red depending on Ph balance of water you use. Adding a few drops of lemon juice will produce rich velvety purple colour, and adding a few hibiscus leaves will change colour towards bright red. Blue Tea is naturally free from caffeine offering a refreshing subtle herbaceous flavour.
In South East Asia Blue Tea is often referred to as “Bunga Telang” which means “clear vision” for its apparent benefits to maintain healthy eyes. The people of Bali use blue tea as traditional herbal remedy to improve vision.
Brewing Guide: 1-2 tea spoons in 250 ml water at 100°C for 6-8 min
